Baked Leche Flan

This is very simple and economical leche flan but still so yummy.

Ingredients for 6-8 servings:
1 cup condensed milk
4 eggyolks
3/4 cup fresh or evaporated milk
2 tablespoon sugar ( for caramel)  the amount of sugar depends upon the shape and size of your mold.

Procedure:
1. Combine the milks and yolks then mix well until fully combined. Set aside. Set the oven at 180 degrees celcius to preheat it.
2. Melt the sugar in a molder then let it cool, pour in the milk and yolk mixture.

3. To bake it get a big baking pan then put water in it ( water that is enough to steam the leche flan)then put the leche flan that we are going to cook in the molder, cover it with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes or until done.

4. When it is done, let it cool then refrigerate, remove from the molder then slice and serve.

Note: You can also use a steamer for this if oven is not available, just steam for 45 minutes or until done over medium heat.

If using a normal oval llanera just bake or steam it for 15 minutes

    1. so that it will not be dry and burn, we just need the steaming effect thats why we need to put water.

  10. What kind of sugar did you use? If it was granulated sugar, then why is it brown? Did you use brown sugar?

    1. I used white sugar, allow it to caramelized and wait for it to be brownish, try it and see for your self :-)

    1. I put the sugar in the molder, then put it on the stove and melt it directly there without adding water. Look at the picture in the Procedure #2

    2. I've tried putting the llanera in the over at mildly strong heat--result was good because the caramelization was even

  20. When you say one big can of condense milk, is that the regular size can?

  21. I have questions:

    1. What do you mean by big can of condensed milk? this is very subjective. what is the exact amount.

    2. steam for around 40 -50 or until done. How will I know if it is done?

    Best Regards.

  22. there are only 2 kinds of can in condensed milk packaging the small can and big can, the big can is 390 grams.
you will know it is done, when you insert a toothpick in it and it comes
out clean, no lumps at all.

  26. In Norway you can buy syrup in box light or dark. I use that instead of making syrup from scratch & actually don't need to cover with aluminium foil, turned out to be fine.
