Paano Gawin Ang Puto



Ito ang basic na recipe ng puto, kapag alam mo ito gawin, pwede ka ng gumawa ng iba't ibang flavor base sa recipe na ito, dahil flavor na lang ang idadagdag mo. Sana kabayan sa pamamagitan ng recipe na ito ay magkaroon ka ng pagkakakitaan. 😄

Mga Sangkap:
180 gramo harina
160 gramo asucar puti
10 gramo baking powder
2 tasa fresh milk o evaporada
1 kutsara tinunaw na butter o mantika
1 itlog 


Paraan ng Paggawa:
1. Pagsama-samahin ang harina, asucar at baking powder, salain ito, pagkatapos masala ay ilagay ang itlog at gatas, paghaluing mabuti.


2. Ilagay ang butter o mantika at haluing maigi, ilagay sa mga hulmahan ng puto, wag masyadong punuin dahil habang niluluto ang puto, umaalsa ito.

3.I-steam ito ng 10 minuto, kapag luto na ay palamigin ng bahagya bago alisin sa hulmahan at pwede ng ihain.

Mula sa recipe na ito, pwede na kayong gumawa ng iba't ibang flavor.

The Secret of Making a Very Delicious Biko

I will share my very secret of making a very delicious biko. Have you tried biko with condensed milk? Well that's my secret :-). Everybody who can taste this, always tell me that it is very yummy. Try this recipe and let me know.


Ingredients:
1 kilo Glutinous Rice
3 cups  water
1 cup coconut milk

Procedure:
1. In a pot put the glutinous rice, water and coconut milk then cook over medium heat, once boiling adjust the heat to low then continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until done.

While waiting for the rice to be cooked, let us prepare the following for our coconut-sugar syrup. 

3  cups coconut milk
1/4 kilo sugar
1/2 cup condensed milk

Procedure:
1. Put everything in a wok then bring to a boil, when boiling lower the heat and continue to simmer and stir until it thickens.
2. Add the cooked glutinous rice and mix evenly, then continue to stir until it is done.
3. Cool and serve with smile. You can top it with latik or the syrup for extra flavor and aroma or just serve it plain.

Sapin-sapin

Ang sapin-sapin ay isa sa mga masasarap na kakaning Pinoy na gawa sa giniling na malagkit. Mula noong bata pa ako ay paborito ko na ito, gusto kong maging perfect ang sapin-sapin kapag gumawa ako kaya kahit may idea na ako paano ang paggawa di ko pa rin sinubukan at gusto ko talagang masaksihan ng aking dalawang mata kung paano ito gawin at tamang tama naman dahil birthday ng mahal naming bata na si Niel,  gumawa ang kaibigan kong si Melissa Martines ng sapin-sapin at ito ang  kanyang version, tiyak pong magugustuhan nyo, simple at madali lang po. Gagawin ko ito bukas, sabay tayo? :-).

Mga Sangkap:
1/2 kilo giniling na malagkit
1 lata gatas na condensada
1/2 litro fresh milk or evaporated milk
1 cup pure coconut milk
1/2 kutsarita Langka flavor powder (yellow)
1/2 kutsarita Ube flavor powder (violet) 
1 tasa ng latik ( pangbudbud)

Procedure:
1. Paghaluin ang giniling na malagkit, at mga gatas, kapag nahalo ng maigi hatiin sa tatlong bahagi, at lagyan ng flavoring ang dalawang bahagi na magkabukod, haluing maigi.


2. I-isteam ang unang bahagi, kapag luto na ibuhos ang ikalawang patong at hintaying maluto saka ibuhos ang panghuling bahagi at takpang maigi hanggang sa maluto.
3. Kapag luto na ay hanguin ito, palamigin bago alisin sa hulmahan. Hiwain ayon sa laki na ibig mo, budburan ng latik, at ihain ng may pagmamahal :-).




Paalala; Pahiran ng mantika mula sa langis ng pinaglatikan ang hulmahan na gagamitin para hindi dumikit ang sapin-sapin.

Around 10 minutes lang ang pag steam ng bawat layer, pero depende rin kung gaano ka kapal ang layers nyo.

Tupig


Tupig is one of the best Filipino dainties that I like it made from glutionous. Sticky, sweet, chewy, and delicious specially if it is still hot.

Ingredients:
2 cups rice flour(malagkit)
1 cup young coconut strips
3/4 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup brown sugar
wilted banana leaves for wrapping, about 3 inch width

Procedures:
1.Combine all the ingredients.
2. In a banana leaf, put a tablespoon of mixture then spread evenly and wrap.
3. Grill over hot charcoal for 5-10  minutes or until done. Turn frequently.

Putong Puti with Cheese


My friend who has a catering services gave me her recipe for putong puti, this is my shortcut version of the recipe I will try the original procedure soon so that I can compare which one is whiter. I am not contented with the whiteness of the finished product but it is still delicious and whiter than puto cheese that I made for my previous posts.
To those who have problems where to use the egg whites after making leche flan , this is the solution. Enjoy cooking.

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 cup white sugar
5 egg whites
1 1/2 cup fresh milk
1 teaspoon butter (soften)
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
slices of cheddar cheese ( I used Eden)

Procedure:
1.Combine the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine together the sifted ingredients, egg white, butter and milk then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture.
3. Fill the puto molder with the batter around 3/4 full then top the cheese and steam for 8 minutes or until done.

Puto Medley

I made different flavored puto today for my sister-in-law's birthday then I came up with this idea when I saw the fruit cocktail for macaroni salad, I used some for my puto and my family loved it. I gained thumbs up for this recipe :-).

Hindi ko pinahihintulutan ang sinoman na kunin ang picture at recipe na ito at gamitin sa sarili nilang blog, maliban na lamang kung magpaalam at aking pahintulutan


Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 beaten egg
2 cup fresh milk
3/4 cup fruit cocktail



Procedure:
1.Combine the flour, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine together the sifted ingredients, egg and milk then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture.
3. Fill 3/4 of the molder with the mixture then put a little fruit cocktail then steam for 7 minutes or until done.


 Note: To avoid sticking, add 1 tablespoon of oil in the mixture then mix well or add a soften butter.

Puto Flan



This is a requested recipe from few emails that I received lately, I tried to get the best recipe from few friends and incorporated it with my idea, the outcome is a superb puto flan. Try it.

Ingredients for puto:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter (soften) or oil
1 beaten egg
2 cup fresh milk or evaporated milk

Procedure:
1.Combine the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine together the sifted ingredients, egg, butter and milk then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture. Set aside.

These are the ingredients for flan mixture:
1 cup condensed milk
4 eggyolks
1/2 cup fresh or evaporated milk

Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients for flan until fully blended.


To assemble the puto flan.

1. Put water in the steamer and bring to a boil.
2. Fill each molder with 1 tablespoon of the flan mixture then steam for 5 minutes or until done.
3. Put a tablespoon of puto mixture over the cooked flan and continue to steam for 7  minutes or until done.
4. Let cool before un-molding, then serve.

How To make a Perfect Suman



Suman is a  delicious Filipino Dainty that is very popular in the Philippines, there are different types of suman and the ingredients varies from each type. When I met Ate Pabling and tasted her "Suman" I said "wow this is so yummy" that's why I let her teach me how to cook a perfet suman because I want to share it to everybody and here is her secret and the suman she made.

Ingredients:
4 cups glutinous rice
4 cups coconut milk
1/4 kilo white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
thumb size ginger ( grated) optional
wilted banana leaves
water ( enough to cook the suman)


Procedure:
1. Soak the glutinous rice in a water for at least 20 minutes or until bloated then drained.
2. In a pot put the coconut milk, sugar, ginger and salt then bring to a boil, when boiling,  add the soaked glutinous rice, give a good stir, cover and cook it like a normal rice (sinaing) but do not cook thoroughly, when it is almost done (medyo bigas pa pero malapit ng maluto) turn off the heat.
3. Get the wilted banana leaves, spoon a portion of the rice then wrap in the banana leaves, do this until all the rice will be wrapped.
4. Put in the pot, add the water and boil the suman until fully cooked. ( around 45 minutes or more).

Corn and Cheese Puto

I love mja blanca with corn and cheese that's why I decided to make a puto with these ingredients to see if it is also yummy. The result is 100% yummy. Try this recipe and let me know.

Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup fresh milk
1/2 cup diced cheddar cheese
1/2 cup corn kernel


Procedure:
1.Combine the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine together the sifted ingredients and milk then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture. Add the corn and cheese then mix very well.
3. Fill the puto molder with the batter and if you have extra corn and cheese you can put on top for extra beauty of the puto or you can put the batter in a big molder and have a 1 big piece of puto.



4. Steam for 10 minutes if you used the small molder and 20 minutes or until done if you used a big molder, allow to cool before unmolding, then serve.

Note: To avoid sticking, add 1 tablespoon of oil in the mixture then mix well or add a soften butter.

Puto Cheese


I re-cooked the Mely's kitchen version because I was disappointed with the result of the cheese that I used, I tried Eden cheese for this and the result was good.

Ingredients for 15 medium size Puto:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/4 tablespoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 beaten egg
2 cups fresh milk or evaporated milk
1 teaspoon butter (melted)
cheddar cheese for toppings (I used Eden )

Procedure:
1.Combine the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine together the sifted ingredients, egg and milk then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture.
3. Fill the puto molder with the puto mixture, around 3/4 full then top the cheese and steam for 10 minutes or until done.
4. Serve and enjoy.

Buko Pandan Puto

A delcious buko pandan flavored puto that will surely capture your heart.

Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cup fresh milk
2 tablespoons Buko Pandan flavor
1 tablespoon oil or soften butter
1 piece coconut ( shredded)

Procedure:
1.Combine the flour, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine all the ingredients then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture.

3. Fill the puto molder with the batter around 3/4 full and steam for 10 minutes or until done.
4. Let cool then unmold and serve.

Puto Pao

This delicious Filipino dainty  uses the batter of puto and a filling of siopao that is why it is called Puto Pao. Easier to make than siopao but the same delicious taste. I made this as simple as it can be so that all my friends can follow easily, I hope you will try this and let me know.

Ingredients for 15 big puto pao:

For the Batter:
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup fresh milk ( add if needed) batter should be like the one in the picture
some slices of salted egg

For the Filling: You can use any meat that you like and cook it the way you want it.
1/4 kilo lean pork ( boiled and diced or shredded it's up to you)
1 teaspoon calamansi juice
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon tomato sauce
2 clovess garlic
1 small onion ( minced)
ground pepper to taste

Procedure for the filling: You can adjust the ingredients according to your taste.
1. Saute the garlic and onion then add the pork and simmer for a minute
2. Add all the ingredients, simmer and stir until the flavors are well blended, turn off the heat and let cool.

Procedure for the Puto Pao
1.Combine the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine together the sifted ingredients and milk then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture.

3. Fill the puto molder with the batter only 1/4 parts of it then put the filling in the middle and add more batter to cover the filling, top with salted egg.


4. Boil the water in the steamer, then steam the puto pao for 10 minutes or until done ( you know it is done when you insert a toothpick in it and the toothpick comes out clean.)





5. Let cool for few minutes, scrape the sides then unmold the puto and serve with a big smile :-).

Rice Bibingka

One of the best Filipino dainties is bibingka.

Ingredients for 4 servings:
1 cup rice flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup coconut milk
1 beaten egg

Procedure:
1. Preheat the oven to 200C.
2. Mix all the dry ingredients then sift.
3. Combine the coconut milk and egg then mix well and pour into the dry ingredients and mix well until fully combined.
4. Pour in a molder with banana leaf and bake for 25-30 minutes.

5. When it is done remove from the oven, spread with butter and sprinkle with sugar and serve.

Rice Puto With Cheese


Perfect for a snack, simple and easy to cook.

Ingredients for 8 servings:
1 cup rice flour ( giniling na bigas)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup coconut milk
1 egg beaten
pinch of  salt
1/2 cup sugar
some cheese for toppings

Procedure:
1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar, then pour the coconut milk and egg then  mix well, until the batter is smooth in texture.
2. Put the banana leaves into the molder properly, then pour the batter around 3/4 full. ( If banana leaves is not available just grease the molder before pouring the batter.)
3.Steam for 35 minutes  then put the cheese and continue to steam until it's done.
4. Serve anytime you want it.

Simple Bibingka With Cheese

A delicious bibingka with cheese that will boosts your appetite when you smell its aroma, mmmmm yummy.

Ingredients for 4 servings:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 egg ( beaten)
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup fresh milk
pinch of salt
some cheese for toppings
wilted banana leaves

Procedure:
1. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, set aside.
2.Pour the milk to the sifted ingredients then mix well,  add the beaten eggs and mix  until fully combined and smooth.
3. Put a wilted banana leaves in the molder that you are going to use then fill it with the bibingka mixture up to 3/4 full, and bake for 25 minutes or until done in a pre-heated oven at 180C.
4. After 25 minutes top it with cheese and continue baking for 5 minutes and turn off the heat.
5.Serve with a smile.

Oven Baked Bibingka

Bibingka is one of the most popular dainties ( kakanin) in the Philippines and there are various ways of cooking it. Since It is my first time to cook this, I used the simple way and that is baking it. It is yummy.
Ingredients for 6-8 servings:
2 cups all purpose flour
2 eggs ( beaten)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 1/3 cup fresh milk
1/4 cup grated cheese
wilted banana leaves

Procedure:
1. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, set aside.
2.Pour the milk to the sifted ingredients then mix well, then add the beaten eggs and mix well until fully combined and smooth.
3. Put a wilted banana leaves in the baking pan that you are going to use, and bake for 45 minutes or until done in a pre-heated oven at 180C.
4. When it is done, sprinkle with grated cheese or coconut then serve.

                                         I re-cooked this today using muffin molder.

Puto Ube

Craving for an ube flavored puto but there is no ube in my place :(  I just used the ube flavoring, but still the real ube is the best for this.

Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
20 ml ube flavor concentrate or 1/4 cup ube powder
2 cups fresh milk or evaporated milk
cheddar cheese for toppings

Procedure:
1.Combine the flour, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine together the sifted ingredients, ube flavor and milk then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture.
3. Fill the puto molder with the batter around 3/4 full then top the cheese and steam for 20 minutes or until done.
4. Let cool before unmolding it then serve it with a smile :-).

Rice Puto

The first puto that I've tasted when I was around 5 years old. Every weekends my older sisters and their bestfriends are always spending time at our house making this puto. That's why it became my favorite, I loved the sweetness and creamy taste in every bite.

Ingredients for 15 Puto:
2 cups rice flour ( giniling na bigas)
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cup coconut milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
Wilted banana leaves ( cut into circles enough to fit the molder with an overlapping allowance)

Procedure:
1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar, then pour the coconut milk into it and mix well, until the batter is smooth in texture.

 2. Put the banana leaves into the molder properly then pour the batter around 3/4 full.

3.Steam for 30 minutes or until done.
4. Serve anytime you want it.

Mely's Kitchen Puto Cheese

This puto cheese is a result of finding out a perfect batter for the puto, I think this one is very good, it's just perfect! I am talking about the batter, because I was not happy with the cheese that's available in my place. I hope you will try this recipe.

Ingredients for 15 medium size Puto:
2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cup fresh milk
1 beaten egg
1 teaspoon butter (soften)
cheddar cheese for toppings

Procedure:
1.Combine the flour, salt, sugar and baking powder then sift it.
2. In a mixing bowl combine together the sifted ingredients, butter. egg and milk then mix very well until the batter is smooth in texture.
3. Fill the puto molder with the batter around 3/4 full then top the cheese and steam for 20 minutes or until done.


4. Let cool before unmolding it then serve it with a smile :-).

Mely's Kitchen Sticky Rice with Mango


A simple glutinous rice recipe that is good for all occasions. These two main ingredients ( glutinous rice and mango) goes well together.

Ingredients:

2 cups glutinous rice
1/2 cup white sugar( or according to your taste)
2 cups coconut milk
2 mangoes ( slice into batonettes)

Procedure:
1. In a pot combine the glutinous rice, sugar and coconut milk then cover and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
2. When the coconut milk is almost dry, reduce the heat to low then cover and simmer until fully cooked, then allow to cool.
3. After cooling, scoop some rice  then put over a foil and flatten it evenly, then put some mango slices, roll like a sushi.





4. Cut into desired size then sprinkle with crushed cashew nuts or sesame seeds then serve, or you can put some coconut cream before serving.



Note: In cutting this, wet the knife with water so that the rice won' stick and easier to cut.
